About Buying a Doll

Prices

My prices range from $50 to $500 and up, depending on the amount of work and supplies. Webcreatures and decoupaged dolls are usually under $100, and most others are more.

See something you want?

It may still be available. Check the For Sale page for a list of dolls that are sitting here right now. OR, if you're inspired by a particular doll that's sold, tell me and maybe I can make a similar one. I consider them all one-of-a-kind, but that doesn't mean I can't make dolls that are similar or even based on the same character. Or maybe you want a particular doll but in a different color; I can do that too.

Have a yen?

Tell me your story. If you inspire me, maybe I'll make the doll.

Want to commission a doll?

Yes, I do accept commissions! In fact, I like them the best, as long as the customer understands that I'll be making my style of art, not someone else's. I like to chat a bit and find out what you like, then see if an idea comes up. Half the fun, for both of us, is deciding the general direction that I'll take on the doll. I'll ask a series of questions, not the least of which is how much $ you want to spend. You might want to think in advance of what colors you like the best, which of my dolls tend to make you twinkle the most, and, say, what obsessions you have that I could try to capture. Imagine the doll living in your house; where does she/he/it stand? What is it ABOUT? WHAT will you tell houseguests when they walk in and see it and go, "huh?" Just things to consider. After we've got a good idea of what I'll attempt, I'll be able to give you a ballpark price and timeline. If the doll is specific to you enough that I don't think anyone else will ever bite on it, I may ask for half the estimated cost up front. Usually, however, the money's due when I finish the doll and before I ship it. I'll try to keep you posted on our progress throughout the journey, though sometimes I work slow!

Swaps

I like to do swaps with other artists, and not just doll artists either! If it's colorful and inspired and out of the proverbial box, I might be interested.

Payment methods, shipping, etc.

I take credit cards and other forms of payment through Paypal or Billpoint, but I don't encourage it except for higher-end items, because I have to pay their fees. Personal checks are fine, assuming you're willing to give it time to clear my bank. I usually ship via USPS Priority Insured mail. I will ship overseas, but it'll cost ya! I usually pay the domestic shipping costs on my dolls, unless a freakish size or shape demands obscene charges. Then maybe we can split it.

What comes with a doll?

All my dolls are either built to stand up themselves, or come with a separate stand, usually customized for the doll. I sign every doll in some way, and usually attach a name tag, which you're welcome to remove. The dolls are packed in boxes for shipping protection only, and as such are meant to be removed. There is no removable clothing on my dolls. They are not meant to be played with. They should be displayed out of direct sunlight! I package all my dolls with only the best intentions, thoughts, and imaginings, and even if they look evil, they're probably just misunderstood.
