SILVERTON GORGE

This small mining town on the southern shore of Silver Lake was originally settled by dwarves of the Silvertoe Clan. It is only a one-hour journey across the lake by Nogsar's Ferry and up into the Redhill Silver Mine. It has many trading houses and storage facilities for minerals and other commodities. From the lake flows the Silver River into town and then south and east to Briar and finally to Athri, where it meets the Mare Luna. Though rowdy, Silverton's residents maintain a relatively peaceful relation with gypsy traders and nearby settlements. Cost of goods and services is high in Silverton (+25%).

INTERESTING PLACES IN SILVERTON GORGE

HOG'S HEAD INN: The Hog's Head serves as the main gathering place for miners andis the town's cheapest (and rowdiest) inn. Rooms are only 5 sp/night or 3 gp/week. The proprietors serve meals each day at 11:00am and 4:00pm, the price for which is 2 sp. Jugs of ale and fungus mead are available at all times. PCs looking for a fight can find one here, and a "round for the house" can win many friends (for the night at least).

ANGUS KARL'S FINE JEWELRY: This cheerful dwaarf has run a jewelry shop in Silverton for the past twenty years. He has an array of necklaces, bracelets, and rings for sale both mundane and magical. Much of his business is conducted through merchants who travel to Silverton Gorge to buy goods then resell them in larger cities such as Athri and Kuv City at exorbitant prices. Two of Angus' cousins run a river guide service and have connections all along the Silver River from Silverton Gorge, through Briar, and into Athri.

LERN'S ELIXERS: Lern Sparrow lives in a small quaint home on the outskirts of Silverton, along with all the pottery and glassware he uses to make his products. He is an odd man of gypsy decent who has taken a vow of silence. The only words heard from his mouth are those incantations used when he is brewing potions. He communicates otherwise through simple hand gestures and written messages. His cramped cottage is filled with shabby furniture and various jars, vases and vials line shelves that precariously clinging to the walls. A large cauldron stands over an open fire in the middle of the room vented straight up through a hole in the roof. Lern sells the following potions at very reasonable cost (-10%) cure light and moderate wounds, cat's grace, bull's strength, neutralize poison, and cure disease.While the various containers along the shelves obviously contain potions, only he knows what each one contains. He is rumored to keep poisons mixed in with the potions to keep thieves away. He keeps his money from sales in a small clay box hidden beneath the fire stand (DC 30) it currently holds 500gp in gold and loose gems and two scrolls; arcane lock and remove curse.

ODGER'S EXCELLENT ARMS: This small armory is run by an old dwarf named Odger Longbeard. Any weapon may be found here at reasonable prices (-5% to +5%) and there is a 10% chance of any +1 weapon being in stock. Odgar is a good source of dwarven lore and pays fair prices (50%) for weapons and arms in good condition.

BEHIND THE CVRTAIN

Silverton provides an excellent place to begin the Age of Worms Adventure Path. Change the name of Diamond Lake to Silverton, the Free City becomes Kuv City and Dragotha becomes Lord Syrynx.
