HALF-OGRE CHARACTERS
Half-ogres are a result of crossbreeding between humans and ogres and inherit a blend of the physical charateristics of their parents. they may be found in either parent's community where their status varies according to local sentiment.
Personality: Half-ogres are often crude, simple, and direct compared to humans, reflecting some of the traits of their ogre parentage. They do however, have a far keener intellect and depth to their character then ogres usually do, and are not so directly prone to brutish displays of violence and greed (Though ogre raised half-ogres are often indistinguishable in behavior from their full-blooded ogre cousins). Half-ogres raised in human communities will typically be better behaved then half-ogres raised by ogres, but at the same time far more sullen and withdrawn, a product of the hatred and fear of the society that reared them.
Physical Description: Half-ogres are absolutely massive by the standards of humans, with full grown males standing 7 1/2 to 8 feet tall on average and weighing roughly 400 pounds, females being notably shorter and slimmer. Their posture and proportions are more along the lines of a human, but half-ogres still stoop slightly by comparison to the normal human. Hair is often a greasy black and their eyes a human shade, skin color is like that of their human parent but with a heavy yellowish palor. They favor their human half in visage, but have a distinct crudeness begotten of their ogre ancestry.
Relations: Their ogre ancestry tends to lead to half-ogres being distrusted by dwarves and gnomes, who have a long history of conflict with the giants. Elves tend to look upon them with extreme disdain, while halflings may regard the massive half-ogres with a degree of amusement. Half-elves look upon them with a condescending pity. Of all the common races, they get along best with perhaps half-orcs, who like them are unwanted bastard children of violence. Among humans sentiments vary, but lean heavily towards distrust and fear. They are far more welcome among ogres, for those that survive childhood in an orc tribe quickly learn to make use of their superior smarts and often are trusted to make important decisions within the tribe.
Alignment: Half-ogres lean towards chaotic moreso then lawful, but lawful half-ogres are not unknown. Those half-ogres raised by ogres most often are evil, but those raised by humans can be any sort of alignment based on their upbringing.
Half-Ogre Lands: Being a half-blood, half-ogres have no lands of their own so to speak, but are found among humans and ogres.
Religion: Half-ogres aren't the most pious of people, but some still hold a religion of some sort. They are prone to worshipping gods who emphasize strength or battle.
Language: Common and Giant. A half-ogre speaks the languages they know with far more clarity and vocabulary then most ogres do.
Names: Half-ogres typically take on names of the society they were born in. Names they receive when reared by ogres are often mocking of their (comparitively) small stature.
Adventurers: Half-ogres, like half-orcs are pushed toward a career as a mercenary or soldier, having no real connection to their home most often, they turn to adventuring as a necessity. Ogre raised half-ogres may grow bored with the simplistic and bland lifestyle of ogre society and yearn for something more.
