These are enchanted crossbow bolts that daze opponents with a blinding flash of light.
The effect of these bolts is a intense flash of radiant light that dazes adjacent creatures with 4 or fewer Hit Dice. Creatures affected may take no actions on that round. Humanoids of 5 or more HD are not affected. A dazed subject is not stunned, so attackers get no special advantage against it.
